Dexter is a 2 year old Terrier mix who weighs 44lbs. He was an owner surrender. They told us they didn't have time for him. He was scared when he first came into our rescue. Most likely that was the real reason he was given up as they didn't know how to deal with his shyness. Dexter became a totally different dog when he was introduced to another outgoing dog. He threw off the shyness and he blossomed. In a perfect world, he really needs that outgoing dog to help him reach his potential. He is fabulous with other dogs and that's where he gains his confidence.

From his second foster home which reinforced it's all about having another dog:

"Dexter has done a complete 180 since the first couple of days he was with us. He is now more outgoing with both the dogs and humans! Dexter loves squeaky toys and plays tug-o-war with my dogs. They wrestle and run around in the backyard and bask in the sun together.

As for the humans, he follows me around and loves to cuddle with my son. He really can't get enough affection, he is constantly seeking it out. Dexter is a sweet boy that just needs a little extra time to adjust to new surroundings."

Dexter is not a barker. He loves to play. His best friend was Lark in the foster home. They loved hanging out together. They loved sleeping curled up with each other. They were definitely a duo! We'd love to see Dexter find that in his new home.

Dexter is only an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years and preferably one that has a dog now. If there are children they need to be over the age of 8.

**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)

**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
