Quick Intro

Cashmere is a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix who was adopted out as an eight-week-old puppy. She came back when her family moved and was unable to take her with them. It was a devastating goodbye and always heart wrenching to watch a family say goodbye to a beloved pet.

Cashmere really enjoys hanging out with people and other dogs. So far, she's lived with both a small and large dog and has gotten along with both. She will play with other dogs. She would play a rousing game of chase with a fellow GSD but it's not an ongoing game as our girl is in the low to medium energy level. When she first arrived at her foster home, it took her a few hours to get her bearings, but she soon settled in. She gets so excited to see her foster mom that she squeals with joy.

Little Miss Introvert

Cashmere adores her foster family and likes playing with other dogs, but she's not a party girl. She's more of an introvert who doesn't feel too confident in busy, crowded, noisy public places. She's spent most of her life in the comfort of a home and isn't used to the hustle of the public sphere. Her foster mom is slowly introducing her to public places and introducing her to what the world outside her home has to offer. Crowds are still scary for Cashmere, so her foster mom has been taking her to quieter parks and areas with more space so that she can get used to them.

Life with Cashmere

Walks. They're a surefire way to win her over and help her feel confident if she's feeling overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of her environment. When meeting new people it's always best to go for a walk and let her get use to someone simply by having them walk her.

Despite all the best intentions, Cashmere loves the couch. Shhhh. Now when Dad comes home, he will find her lounging on her big pet bed. But when the kids are around, well….

Cashmere Wants You to Know

She's housebroken (according to her previous home and foster mom) and has excellent potty habits. Once she's given the chance to learn the lay of the land in her forever home, she'll settle in and feel like a true member of the family. While she loves company, she doesn't have to have a furry sibling, and would be okay if left alone while her family runs errands to go to work. She would like to be included on some outings to build up her confidence. She loves her humans and wants nothing more than a forever home to call her own.

Cashmere's Dream Home

All dogs need love and patience. Cashmere's got the love part down pat, but she's going to need her forever family's patience and guidance in helping her navigate the world beyond the safety and comfort of home. She'd love to go on regular walks, then come home and join you for your next Netflix binge session. She needs a family who understands her preference for less exciting places and will help her explore the world at her own pace. This quiet gal would do best in a home with older kids (if at all) and one that doesn't have much activity or house parties. Too much noise and movement would be really hard for Cashmere to cope with! She loves walks in quiet, open spaces. A family who likes hiking or regular walks around many of the trails in the Bay Area would serve Cashmere so well. Cashmere will love her family but will also handle it if they are out running errands and working.

Do you have room in your hearts and home for this big-hearted gal?

Cashmere is only an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. If there are kids they need to be over the age of 10.

**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)

**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
