German Shepherd Dog
6 months old - Short coat - Female

Skylar is a 6 month old German Shepard dog that was rescued from the shelter who found her as a stray. She's approx. 35lbs. We expect she will be in the 50lbs range when full grown. She's at a goofy, awkward stage right now as she gains weight. She lopes around and is funny with those big feet that don't seem to match her smaller body.

You may notice a thin, faint line around her snout. Shelter staff believe she had a "gentle leader" on that was too tight and never taken off, despite the fact that she's had no issues with pulling on leash. She is a little timid when in public and tends to back away from strangers but once she gets used to you she's like a whole new dog. She does great playing with other dogs both in the home and at the dog park and could definitely benefit from a canine friend in her new home to help build her confidence and burn off some of that puppy energy!

Skylar lives with a dog savvy cat and does well. Skylar has not shown aggression in her foster home. She is an option to live with a dog savvy cat.

Skylar is an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. If there are kids in the home they need to be over the age of 6.

**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)

**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
